Scientists of PGMU successfully develop scientific problems relevant both for Perm healthcare and for the healthcare of the Russian Federation: cardiology, pediatrics, surgery, neurology, dentistry, epidemiology and other areas.
Annually, the university leads in the number of patients received for inventions and utility models among higher education institutions in the region.
The university is given the main role in the implementation of national projects in the healthcare and education of the Perm region.
The University has a center of practical skills and knowledge, an electronic reading room, modern computer classes. Internet technologies, electronic information systems are actively introduced and interactive multimedia solutions are being deployed. There is a preparatory department for applicants and foreign students and a distance learning center.
Annually more than 3,400 students are trained at the university. Trained 365 clinical intern – at 22 specialties , 264 clinical intern – by 40 function , 94 Postgraduate – by 20 function . Over a year more than 2,000 doctors increase their professional qualifications – more than 80 specialties. The University annually produces over 500 highly qualified physicians of different profiles and 50 specialists of STR.
Since 1992, the University has a program of international student exchanges in the framework of IFMSA. During this time, over 100 specialists have been trained, who successfully work in foreign medical institutions of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
